Hlödver Sigurdsson

Hlödver was born in Reykjavik 1989 and started formal musical training at the age of 16 in Reykjavik College of Music. His main teachers in composition were Tryggvi M. Baldvinsson and then Þórður Magnússon. After graduating from physics department at Menntaskólinn við Sund he entered mathematics department at Háskóli Íslands but soon quit for full time studies in piano playing and music theory. His piano teachers were Marteinn Hunger Friðriksson, Guðríður Sigurðardóttir and Selma Guðmundsdóttir, finishing a college diploma in piano playing is still unfinished.

Studies in Iceland Academy of the Arts began in the autumn of 2012 in the department of music composition. A new direction was undergoing for the young composer where a curiosity of computer music and electronic sounds developed into a passion. During the years of 2012-2015 Hlödver composed acoustic as well as computer music where the latter gained more importance as the time passed. Ríkharður H. Friðriksson a prominent computer musician and guitarist was his main composition teacher throughout his studies in the University. Hlöðver earned his undergraduate diploma in May 2015 where he has since performed as live-(music)coder in Reykjavik, Sheffield, St. Petersbourg, Bergen and Berlin.
