For several decades, the tech industry tried to position itself as a libertarian force in opposition to state power and authority. While that was always more narrative than reality, there has been a notable shift in the past few years with tech companies seeking much closer ties to government and military, and prominent tech figures embracing right-wing politicians to forward their interests.
